About Us

We, here at The Household of Rachel and Sean, believe that adventure is something that can happen in the small and large moments of every day life. We believe that to find adventure, all we need is a desire to search for new experiences in our own backyard and a commitment to making our goals a deliberate priority in our lives. We're not waiting until we plan a huge vacation, until we have all of the perfect gear, or until we're done with college; we're doing it now because this is our time and we want to enjoy every minute of it!

Meet Sean:
He's a self-taught master of the "Kermit the Frog" voice,
lover of jelly beans, old coins, and corny jokes. He's currently in school to become
a bad-ass-smarty-pants Plastics and Composites Engineer.
He's lived all over the country, but is most recently from Colorado Springs.

Meet Rachel:
She's addicted to Burt's Bees Honey lip balm,
up-cycles normal stuff into cool stuff, and is a world-famous salmon whisperer.
After months of casual communication with the team at the Washington State Parks Foundation,
she was welcomed as their new Blog Editor and Developer Intern in April 2014.

(Our first hike together in the Rockies)

We met in 2010 at YMCA of the Rockies: Snow Mountain Ranch in Granby, CO where we
were both looking for adventure (which we found) and not looking for each other.
It was indifference at first sight, but our interest in each other began during a game of volleyball
in which Sean spiked the ball on Rachel and she reached under the net and punched him in
the stomach.

When Rachel's newfound rock collection grew too large to take home on the plane, Sean offered
to drive her all the way home from Colorado to Washington. He never went back.

Since then, we have lived in Pullman, Bellingham, West Seattle, Covington, Maple Valley, and surrounding areas.

At the end of June 2012, we decided that we were ready to get married, so on September 2, 2012, we did so. It was awesome.

Together, we like to cook, take road trips, learn about photography, wear funny hats, play with our cat, collect sea glass, and travel places we've never been before.

It's nice to meet you!
